Common Bicycle Repair Stands for the Mechanic in You!

Bicycle repair stands, who makes them and what can they do for you?

Are you tired of taking your bike to the repair shop and getting it back not totally fixed?

Do you like to fix your own things?

Fixing your own bike(s) can be fun and rewarding!

When you do your own bicycle maintence you know what is going on with your road bike. You do not have to guess what someone else may or may not have done to your bicycle.

With a repair manual and a repair stand there is not much you can not do on your bike!

Do you not love it when you go to a companies site looking up information about their product.

When you look on the more info page they tell you things you have no idea what they mean, such as tubes made of 6061 T6.

To the average person what in the world do this mean?

This page should tell you something you understand and can use to make a decision with. If it does not tell me so!

Who Makes Bicycle Repair Stands?

Most repair stands you will find have a clamp to hold your bike.

You will find cycling repair stands by the following companies:
  • Park Tool
  • Feedback
  • Topeak
Park Tool offers at least five different types of repair stands. These stands range in MSRP from $150-$350.

Park Tool's stands come in two different grades or classification groups.
  1. Home
  2. Professional
Their repair stands come in 2, 3 or 4 leg set-ups depending on the style.

All of the styles are portable and range in weight from 13 pounds to 23 pounds.

You are probably wondering what Feedback stands have to offer.

Feedback stands are broken up into two classifications:
  • Professional
  • Recreational
Their professional series of stands have a weight of 10.6-12.6 pounds and they fold down for easier portability. They are also made of light-weight aluminum.

The load capacity, how much they can hold off the ground, ranges from 65-85 pounds.

They also come with three legs for added support!

Feedback Sports only makes one model of recreational stands. It holds up to 60 pounds and comes with two support legs. It weighs 13.6 pounds.

The recreational model is made of steel instead of aluminum.

Feedback repair stands are in the $250-$400 range. A bit more expensive than Park Tools. They are however a very good stand.

Last yet not least is the Topeak bicycle repair stands!

Topeak classifies its stands like the other two companies do too.

Like the other two, Topeak has clamp style stands.

It also has two stands you place the whole bike on and it holds the bike via the bottom bracket. The other uses the front fork along with the bottom bracket. The stands look a bit bizarre.

These particular stands are called the PrepStand Race and Max.

These stands are made in particular for odd shaped carbon fiber tubes. Or for those who do not want to take a chance of damaging their bikes.

The non-clamping repair stands weigh 10 and 5 pounds. Topeak's other stands weigh in the 13 pound range.

All the stands can hold up to 55 pounds of work weight!

They range in price from $100-$240!

How Repair Stands Can Help?

Bicycle repair stands get your bike off the ground and in a position which is easier on you.

Since your bicycle is off the ground you can adjust it with out having to flip your bike over, like you would with it on the ground.

It makes changing wheels easier as well as any other bike repair.

If you are planning on having your bike for many years and do not want to take it to the bike shop for repairs. Get yourself a bicycle repair stand!
