How Bicycle Rollers Can Help?

Bicycle rollers are another great way to train indoors!

There are some "tricks" to know about cycling rollers before you get them.

Balancing your bike, without rolling off the rollers, is an extra challenge. Your first few times on your roller trainer are the most challenging.

The key to maintaining your balance is by focusing on a point beyond your front wheel.

Your first few times on your rollers should be spent in hallway.

The hallway is to help protect you from falling and braking your arm or some other part of your body.

Faster wheel speeds also help you maintain your balance on rollers.

What Do Rollers Have to Offer?

You will want to get rollers when your are wanting to improve your riding balance.

Bicycle RollersBy improving your riding balance, you in turn improve your ability to ride in groups and you become a better drafter.

You will also want to get rollers when you want a more road-like handling trainer.

You get a more rounded training session on your rollers!

In addition to the balancing training you can also get resistance training too!

There a couple of ways you can increase resistance on your rollers.
  • get rollers in a bigger diameter
  • get rollers with an adjustable resistor of some kind

Who Makes Roller Trainers?

There are about half a dozen or so makers of rollers.

Here are some of them you should know about:
  • CycleOps
  • Rocking Rollers
  • Kreitler
  • TruTrainer
  • Parabolic
Not all of these makers have models with added resistance. You will want to keep this in mind.

No matter which maker you decide on, it will be well worth the money.

Rollers are more versatile than regular stationary trainers!

You can do more for the same price with rollers!
