Continental
Bicycle Tires - "Keeping Those Pesky Flats Away!"
You have
several options with Continental bicycle tires.
No matter what your riding style is, you can find a Continental cycling
tire to fit your needs.
Continental has been around for many decades so you can get their tires
at a variety of locations.
What Continental Tires Are For Entry Level Riders?
For those of us
who do not like having flats, Continental has a tire for us. They have
more than one actually!
The ideal Continental bicycle tires for those who want lots of miles
while minimizing the
flats, are...
- GatorSkin
- Ultra Race
- Ultra Sport
- Grand Prix 4season
The two Ultra tires are very good value for the money.
You will find the Grand Prix and Gator Skins to be higher in price.
These tires do offer very good puncture protection, less flats, while
still getting lots of miles out of them.
One thing to keep in mind is...the majority
of your flats will happen on your rear tire.
It is not essential you have the same kind, model, of tire on the front
and back.
So if you want to minimize the monetary impact while maximizing the
flat resistance...
You could get the Gator Skins for the rear and Ultra Sport for the
front.
Any combination you deem necessary will work well to help prevent those
annoying flats.
The More Advanced Continental Line-up is?
For those of
you who are more concerned about weight, Continental has tires for you
too.
The rest of the tire line-up is:
- Grand Prix 4000 and 4000s
- Grand Prix SuSo
- Grand Prix 24mm
- GP Attack and Force
Each of these tires offers something a bit different for the discerning
rider.
The Grand Prix SuSo is know for its speed and light weight.
The SuSo is purely a racing tire, it is not designed for high miles.
The 4000 and 4000s combine light weight with puncture resistance.
GP Attack and Force are a front and rear tire racing combo set. Attack
is the skinner front tire while Force is the slightly wider rear tire.
The Attack has better handling qualities while the Force has better
flat resistance.
Now you know about the Continental brand of tires for road bikes.
