Cycling Shoes

are designed to maximize power transfer from rider to pedal.

For a beginner the idea of having your foot attached to your bike might be daunting.

You might be thinking: will I fall down because I can’t get my foot out fast enough?

The most important thing to check before you fasten both feet to the bike is the tension screws, in the pedal. The easiest way to check pedal tension is to:

1. put one shoe on
2. clip my shoe into the pedal
3. Twist my foot outward, away from the bike, to unclip
4. Adjust pedal tension screws as needed
5. Repeat 1-4 for other shoe

Following these simple steps will help you be more comfortable on you bike.

Now that we know what to do once we get our shoes. Let us look at what we should look for as we are out there looking for shoes.

Cycling Shoes The sole is made via one of three ways.

1. plastic mold
2. combo of plastic and carbon fiber or fiberglass
3. just carbon fiber

As you progress down this list the stiffer as well as lighter the shoe gets.

Another important point to look at is how well the ventilation of the shoe works. The reason for this is the hotter your foot gets the faster it can fatigue.

The next consideration to look for is how well the shoes fit on your foot. You should make sure the shoe does not cause discomfort to the ball or fore part of your foot.

One last point is to see if the shoe has a removable insole. This point is just in case you need to get custom made insoles later.

Since there are so many manufactures to chose from here are some suggestions. Take a look at them and decide which one is best for you.
