Cycling Sock - What Are On Your Feet?

Have you ever worn just one cycling sock? If you have, did you notice any difference one sock can make?

It seems silly to only wear one sock, it seems much better to wear two cycling socks! This way both your feet get the benefit!

How Socks Made For Cycling Can Help You

About a year ago, I got curious about whether or not a specifically designed bicycling sock would really be beneficial or make a difference.

I finally broke down and bought a pair!

Although I was pretty impressed after the first use, I was not immediately converted.Cycling Sock

I wore the socks as part of my regular riding routine yet did not really appreciate them.

The first time that I rode with regular cotton/poly blend socks again I was converted to my road bike socks.

When I was wearing the cotton/poly socks I noticed my feet were noticeably hotter and more sweaty.

It is amazing when you compare the two types of socks how much better you will feel with socks actually made for cycling.

Your feet will be less sweaty and not nearly as hot!

You will hardly notice your feet are getting warm at all with them on!

Who Makes These Socks?

You can find a variety of different brands for socks.

There are:
  • generic brands
  • SmartWool
  • Lin Socks
  • Defeet
  • regular cycling clothes makers (Pearl Izumi, Cannondale, Craft...)
There are however two different types of materials used in making the socks.

The two different types are CoolMax® and Merino wool!

They both are really good sock materials.

For those of you who do not know Merino wool is a natural fiber while CoolMax® is a synthetic fiber.

Merino wool comes from a particular breed of sheep named Merino, are you surprised?! Merino wool is known for its softness and durability.

Both fibers do a really good job of 'pulling' moisture away from the body. This leaves your body cooler and feeling less sweaty!

The price and maybe comfort factor are about the only differences you will notice between the two fibers.
LIN High Performance Socks

Lin Socks has really good prices on both kinds of socks!

With Lin Socks you can get the same amount of socks for less money than from brands like SmartWool.
