Jamis Bicycles
Jamis bicycles
has received Bicycle magazines Editor Choice Award 6 years in a row!
The Editor Choice Award has been given to Jamis for value and
performance from their bicycles.
In other words you getting a lot of bike for a cheaper price than other
manufacturers.
Jamis road bikes have much to offer for the amount spent to get it.
Which Bike(s) Are For Entry Level Riders?
As far as the
entry level bike goes, Jamis bicycles has one which is worthy to fit
into this
title.
This bike is the Ventura Race!
Ventura Race is an aluminum frame with a carbon fiber fork.
It comes with the Shimano 105 component group, which is a must to be
considered for entry level status.
All of us want a bike which can be used for many years to come.
You can
get exactly that with any entry level road bike suggested on this site.
You will get a nimble handling road bike which you can feel confident
on in the corners.
It handles like a Mercedes-Benz!
To get such great quality and handling for such a minimal price is
excellent.
The suggested retail price is $1350 for the Ventura Race road bike.
Looking For More Bike
Jamis bicycles
also has other bikes for the more experienced riders.
Jamis has the following for those who want more bike.
- Ventura Elite
- Xenith (SL Di2,
SL, Team, Pro, Race, Endura 1 and 2)
The Ventura Elite is built off of the same platform as the Ventura Race
(above).
The notable difference between the two is the Elite is equipped with
Shimano Ultegra instead of 105.
You also get a bit lighter frame with the Elite than you will with the
Race.
Plus you need to add on about $500 to the price tag and you got
yourself the Ventura Elite!
The Xenith models are the carbon fiber frame line of Jamis.
Since the SL Di2 and SL are racing bikes they will be skipped over.
Xenith Team
You
will find the Xenith Team is road bike is
very good bike for the weekend racer.
It has a good component package in SRAM Red.
You will also get a pretty
light bike, tipping the scales at around 14.75 lbs.
After all the less weight you have to move around the faster you can be
for an extended period of time.
Xenith Team is a smooth handling carbon fiber speed machine. You can
get yourself a Xenith Team for $5575.
The higher the price
tag on any bike is due to basically a few factors, less weight, better
components, and better wheels.
Since those parts are the heart of any bike so it stands to reason, a
higher priced bike will be better in these areas.
Xenith Pro
The Xenith Pro is different from the Team in a couple of ways.
Pro has SRAM Force components, and tips the scale with 2 extra pounds
(16.75). Plus you pay about $3100 less for the Pro than the Team.
The wheels are still good yet not quite as good and other little odds
and ends you will probably not even notice.
Xenith Race
Xenith Race switches back to Shimano for the component group. On the
Race you will get the Ultegra group which is a solid performer.
There is going to be a little compare and contrast between the Xenith
Race and the Ventura Elite.
Both bikes have Shimano
Ultegra components!
Both bikes are within less
than a pound of each other in weight.
One has a carbon fiber frame the other super light weight aluminum.
Xenith Race does have aero wheels while Ventura Elite has less
aerodynamic wheels.
Is a carbon fiber frame, a little bit more aerodynamic wheels and less
than a pound light worth spending about $800 more for?
This is exactly what you get with Xenith Race compared to the Ventura
Elite.
Jamis bicycles are great bikes because they use the whole component
group on a bike. They do not mix and match component groups.
Having all components on a bike the same eliminates compatibility
issues which might arise later on.
Several other manufactures mix and match components. It is refreshing
for Jamis not to do that to their bikes.
