Kestrel Bikes, Who They are and How it Benefits You?

Kestrel bikes are known for their aggressive handling and performance.

You will find the Kestrel road bike line-up to be very reasonably priced compared to other more well known brands. Kestrel Bikes

Kestrel is the leader in the 'aero' bicycle industry. They were the first to start making aero bikes.

Kestrel strictly makes carbon fiber cycling frames.

You will find they have a broader line of Tri (Triathlon) bikes than road bikes.

Kestrel is more of a Tri bike manufacturer than a road one.

You can say they probably make really good aero bikes to do well as Tri bikes and you would be correct.

What do the Road Bike Models Offer?

You have four models to choose from depending on you desires and budget.
  • RT 900 SL
  • RT 800 SL
  • Talon SL Road
  • Talon Road - SRAM Force
  • Talon Road - Shimano 105
You might say "There are five models listed." and you are absolutely correct.

For the last two Talon road bikes listed the difference is the wheels you get with the bike. Since you get different wheels the weight is slightly different too.

On either model you can choose between the Shimano 105 or the SRAM Force component set. So the last two models are essentially identical.

The RT 900 SL is Kestrel's flagship model and a great handling bike.

Your RT 900 SL comes with Shimano Dura-Ace components, Cole Shuriken Carbo wheel set and weighs in at 15.2 pounds.

Here is a very informative 5 min video review of the RT 900 SL.

Kestrel RT 900SL Review from Test Rider.com.

The RT 800 SL is another good bike for the price!

Your RT 800 SL comes with Shimano 105 components, Cole Rollen wheel set and weighs in at 17.8 pounds.

Kestrel's RT 800 SL was the first Kestel to make it to the podium. It did so at the Tour of California.

The Talon SL road bike moves through the air with ease!

On your Talon SL bike you will get Shimano Ultegra components, Mavic Equippe wheel set and 16.9 pounds of bike.

As mentioned earlier the last two Kestrel bikes are essentially identical and you will be able to see how similar they really are.

Your Talon Road -SRAM Force comes equipped with either Shimano 105 or SRAM Force components, Mavic Askium wheel set and weighs in at 17.1 pounds.

Your Talon Road - Shimano 105 comes equipped with either Shimano 105 or SRAM Force components, Shimano RS-10 wheel set and weighs 17.9 pounds.

As you can see for yourself they are essentially the same.Kestrel Bikes

After looking up the weight of each wheel set on the manufacturers website, the difference in weight between the two bikes is the wheels.

If you are debating between the 105 or the SRAM components the 105 components gets you a 11-25 cassette compared to 12-25 with SRAM.

You would not think 1 tooth on a cassette would make much difference yet it does in speed.

All Kestrel bikes range in size from 48cm to 60cm on the RT 900 and 800 SL you can get a 62cm.

Your Kestrel bike will be a bike you will enjoy to ride and race with.

Kestrel is a good brand to upgrade to when the time comes!
