The majority of bicycle wheels come in two colors, black or 'silver'. A better description of silver would be shiny. Wheels also come in a wide range of weights. Maybe a wide range is a bit of a stretch. It seems like a wide range because a wheel's weight is measured in grams. So when you see a weight range of 550 to 1200 grams you would think this is a wide range, if you are not use to this type of weight measurement system. Actually a range of 550 to 1200 grams is only a difference of about 1.5 pounds. When weight matters this is a big difference! If you are not out to win races or compete than you did not need to concern yourself about weight. What Categories of Wheels Are There?There are two
main categories of road bike wheels:
 They probably will not be the lightest wheels ever, yet they will serve you well in a variety of conditions. The majority of people, myself included, only use multi-purpose wheels. You can get multipurpose wheels which are more aerodynamic than others, if this is important to you. Aerodynamic wheels are made for the purpose of cutting down wind resistance. For the average Joe, like you and me, this means expensive and unnecessary. While aerodynamic wheels have there place, the people who get them are serious stage racers or those who have the money to pay for them. Who Makes Wheels?The categories
