Trek Pilot Road Bikes

Trek Pilot road bikes are extremely well constructed.

Trek road bikes are ridden by some of the top cyclists in the Tour de France.

Every bike they have from their time trial to there regular road racer is made by Trek.

The Pilot road bikes have a variety of frame choices, depending on which Pilot you desire. Here are the numbers for the different Pilots:

1.0 & 1.2
2.1
5.0, 5.2 & 5.9

With in these different numbering categories there can be a few different choices. For instance the 2.1 has the following choices:

2.1 standard
2.1 s.p.a.
2.1 WSD

The s.p.a. models have a rear suspension set up on them. The WSD are designed for women in particular. They only have sizes for women.

You can probably guess the standard does not have any special features or characteristics.

Now let us talk about their frames. The Trek Pilot comes in three different frame types.

Alpha SL aluminum
ZR 9000 alloy
OCLV 110 or 120 carbon

The SL stands for super light weight. Alpha SL aluminum frames are double butted at the connection points and thinned out between.

This provides strength where it is needed and allows the bike to be lighter too.

The ZR 9000 alloy is claimed to be stronger than steel yet lighter than titanium. ZR stands for Zirconium.

These ZR 9000 frames are stronger than industry standard aluminum yet lighter for impressive frame quality.

Trek Pilot road bikes OCLV stands for Optimum Compaction, Low Void.

What this means,to you, is the carbon frames are extensively tested to insure quality and dependability.

These frames are so structurally sound they surpass aerospace standards.

The OCLV frames are the same frames the Discovery Channel team rides on.

You can purchase the same quality of frame as what the professionals use.

Trek Pilot road bikes range in price from $770 - $4500. They are equipped with good components.Even on the base models!

The 1.0 is equipped with shimano 105 components, which are of respectably high quality.

Trek's are definitely a bike worth owning and will serve you well.
